January 24, 2013 was the first Source the Station Meetup of the New Year and brought with it a certain fresh perspective on the revitalization of downtown Huntington Station. On December 17, 2012 Source the Station announced that the community secured three feasibility study ideas that were formed and crowdsourced by Huntington Station residents for the revitalization of downtown Huntington Station. The three ideas earned the designated threshold of “likes” during Source the Station’s Downtown Living and Public Destinations Campaigns.

On October 18th, 2012, 35 people attended the Source the Station meetup at Mahanaim School, with a focus on the Retail, Public Destination and Downtown Living Campaigns. Members Kimberly Hawkins presented her support for the The Centre at Huntington Station idea and Kathy Kuthy presented her support on behalf of the Community Center idea.

September 27th, 2012. Over 50 members of the Huntington Station community came together for Source the Station’s second Members Meetup. The meetup was held at the Huntington Children’s Enrichment Center from 6:30pm until about 8:30pm. A highlight during the meeting was not only the amount of members that showed up but also when liaison Erika Forland announced that we achieved a milestone as a STS community–we garnered over 300+ members for our Source the Station community! This was 50 members over our set goal for September and an incredible accomplishment! Great job!

On August 23, 2012 thirty-three members of the Huntington Station community came together for Source the Station’s first ever Members Meetup. Meetups are held to generate creative ideas, to promote collaboration between community members, and to educate members on resources. A meetup is designed for members to work together to propel the revitalization effort forward in a direction that reflects the desires of the community.

Source the Station had its first full month of crowdsourced placemaking during the month of July. In July we saw many good things as we began to establish ourselves in our brand new office at 1266 New York Avenue. We had our grand opening and website launch, met with fifteen organizations, had a happy hour, and completed a welcome bag outreach to local businesses.
